What to Expect at a Rainbow Meeting

Rainbow Girls belong to an assembly, which is the same as a local club. Members learn standard meeting protocol, helpful in school, community, and later through adulthood. Meetings begin with an entry march and short opening ceremony. Visiting dignitaries are escorted and welcomed, after which the members conduct their business. Many times meetings conclude with a fun presentation or special entertainment, followed by a short closing ceremony and ending drill march. An assembly is administered by twenty officers who serve for a four or six month term that begins with a festive and colorful installation.

Members can hold many different offices in Rainbow in which they may gain practical knowledge, confidence and grace, enabling them to excel in school as well as outside activities. A girl may wish to advance through the ranks and eventually become the assembly’s presiding officer, the Worthy Advisor. This leadership experience provides a wonderful and valuable experience a girl never forgets. Each year a corps of Grand Officers is selected from the past and present Worthy Advisors. The selection of these honored positions is based on character and exemplary performance.

The ritual contains beautiful, timeless and time-honored ceremonies based on right living and thinking. Rainbow lessons teach respect for God, family, and country. Parents, grandparents and legal guardians are heartily encouraged to attend.

Achievement and Reward in Rainbow

In addition to the colorful merit bars, a girl can earn many other awards denoting her accomplishments. Scholarships for those seeking higher education are available through various associated organizations, and are awarded on the basis of scholastic ability, financial need, and Rainbow service.
