Rainbow PC - image copyright Rainbow.org; do not copy Yes, you've read it right! I'm planning a message board for rainbow.org!

This is going to take some time, so please be patient. I'm doing research, and plan to work out the best way to implement this message board. My husband (a Master Mason) will be coding and implementing the layout for it, and how long that will take depends on how hectic things are at work (and they're VERY hectic right now, unfortunately!). It will preferably be run on rainbow.org's server, and not another "go-between" site, like other message boards I've run across on the net. I will require people to register before they will be able to read or post on this message board. I may or may not choose to have banner ads (appropriate ones, of course) on the message board, depending on the amount of server traffic it gets (hey, these things cost money, you know).

I want to set up a registered-only board for several reasons. To protect the users' privacy, for one thing, especially that of the girls under 18. Don't worry, any information you give me during registration, i.e. name, year of birth, city and state, etc. will be kept strictly confidential. You will be able to choose a user name (like in chat, or on other message boards), and that will be the only one displayed. I will ask that girls under 13 please get parental permission before registering. I'd also like to try and keep out trolls, or people who have no business reading or posting messages at this site.

Since this is my domain, I would appreciate that you behave like a visitor in my home. My rules will include things like: no profanity (you may censor an occasional word with *'s, but don't get excessive with it -- remember, we're young ladies and well-mannered adults!), and no bashing of other girls (or other Assemblies, DeMolay, Job's Daughters, parents, adults, Masons, Star, etc.) I will likely add to this list and refine it before the board is in operation.

At this point in time, I'm planning on having five Topics, or Groups, open for discussion. They will be:

      • General Discussion. This is for both girls and adults to talk about things related to Rainbow. Things like upcoming installations or initiations, dress code (and why you don't like it -- c'mon, I've been there!), and so on and so forth.

      • Help. This will most likely be an "Ask Suzy Sunshine" type of board. Hopefully I can get some good, knowledgable people who I can depend on to answer questions.

      • Girls-only. For Active Girls only, to discuss things in a "safe" area.

      • Majority-only. For the Majority Members, who may wish to reconnect with others and talk about how things have changed, what should be changed, etc.

      • Adults-only. For Majority Members, Parents of active Rainbow Girls, Board Members, Grand Deputies and the like, and other Masons, Eastern Star, Amaranth & etc.

Other topics that have been suggested (but I may or may not implement them) include: Grand Officer/Rep-only; a board or group of boards (one for girls, one for adults) for each Grand Jurisdiction; a pen-pal board (e-mail only, no snail-mail addresses to be shared, unless it's c/o your Assembly, and goes to either a P.O. Box or the Center where your Assembly meets.); a reunion board, for either Majority Members in general, or Grandies in particular; and a Sunshine board, for those who need to share happy news, or requests for prayers/warm thoughts for someone who is ill or otherwise needs the good wishes of the members of our Order.
