Listed below are details about the Grand Assembly of The Philippines and Guam.
updated on 04-04-02
Local (Assembly) Level:
Perla Assembly No. 1, Manila, Philippines:
Palma Assembly No. 17, Quezon City, Philippines:
- Perla Assembly meets at Scottish Rite Temple every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. They are sponsored by Sampaguita Chapter, OES and Lodge Perla del Priente, F&AM of the Philippines.
- We have a tradition, Perla 2nd initiation, that happens every first night of our Grand Assembly. All the newest members of the Assembly bond with the Majority and active members of the Assembly who have undergone the 2nd initiation already! A very exciting and most-awaited bonding moment for Perla members.
- For her term, the Worthy Advisor decides upon a mascot, colors, flower, motto, honored station, theme, symbol and scripture.
- Our Installations are usually held Saturday afternoon, stated meetings every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. Then sometimes after the meeting in the afternoon we usually go out or have a fellowship together with brother DeMolays.
- We strictly wear pure white dresses/gowns during Installation. No sleeveless and as much as possible ankle-length, with matching white closed shoes.
- Traditions for Installations. So far we haven't done anything that is not in the ritual! Though we usually have a hostess speak (usually the mother of the WA, or the Mother Advisor, or any mom).
- Presentations at Installations include jewelries for past positions and merit bars.
- Rainbow Dads and Rainbow Beaux are usually chosen by the Assembly.
- Assembly songs. "My Rainbow Dreams" is sung at every installation and "I give my Heart and My Hand" at the closing of regular meetings.
Sapphire Assembly No. 8, Cebu City, Philippines: (Instituted around 1987)
- (In the same district as Perla No. 1)
- Sapphire Assembly meets at the local Masonic Lodge. They are sponsored by Maktan No. 30.
- For her term, the Worthy Advisor selects colors, flower, symbol, theme, scripture, motto, and honored station. We don't have mascots.
- We meet every first and third Sunday morning. Sometimes we go to church together and then lunch afterwards. Installations are usually on the weekends, and there is a dinner afterwards. Sometimes when we have our Installations on our stated meeting day, we have lunch afterwards.
- Members can only wear white to any Rainbow meeting or function. White gowns are worn for Installations.
- Installations. We only have the regular installing officers stated in the ritual.
- Outgoing Worthy Advisor. Usually, the outgoing WA does not receive something from the Assembly. Still, our terms are very memorable. We have pictures during our terms with the different activities accomplished.
- Passed-down items. Unfortunately, we don't have many Rainbow items in our Assembly but there are a few like PWA pins. Gavels, jewelry and the Worthy Advisor's crown are passed down.
- The Worthy Advisor selects the Rainbow Dad and the Rainbow Beau.
- Assembly awards. At Installation, awards are given to members for exemplary works.
- We sing My Rainbow Dreams after each meeting. [ed. note: lyrics different from standard - is this in error?]
"My rainbow dreams are calling me and leading me away.
They have a magic spell that holds and haunts me day by day.
I wonder if I find you there somehow some happy days.
May all my rainbow dreams come true before they fade away."
Area (District) Level:
Manila/Quezon City:
- Most of the time the sisters here (especially in Luzon) meet and catch up with each other. I think the sisters here are really close because we usually invite sisters from different Assemblies to participate in each other's activities, fund raising, birthday parties, swimming parties, Installation, Initiation or just about anything!
Grand (State) Level:
- Every year at Grand Assembly, we have the cultural night. Since the Philippines has over 7000 islands, different areas have different dances, songs and costumes. This is a competition night of such.
- We have mascots for the Grand Assembly (usually the GWA or the Assembly that sponsors the GA choose the mascot) but not for individual Assemblies.
