Listed below are details about the Grand Assembly of Missouri.
Missouri
compiled on 8-30-01
Local (Assembly) Level:
St. Charles Assembly 13, St. Charles: (Instituted February 4, 1930)
- St. Charles Assembly is under Supreme Jurisdiction.
- They used to have a Historic Masonic building in Historic St. Charles until the maintenance got too big. The Temple Board had another building built in another area of St Charles, and our Assembly met there. Right now, St. Charles Assembly meets at the Mother Advisor's house.
- Our Assembly is sponsored by Supreme. O.E.S. used to sponsor Rainbow untill Supreme took over. Sometime in the 90's, Supreme took over due (apparently) to Assembly conflict and loss of members.
- St. Charles Assembly used to do the Bible Ceremony for O.E.S. They used to work the Festival of the Little Hills. They make funnel cakes. They used to have Scrapbook competitions at Grand Assembly so they had scrap book meetings.
- For her term, the Worthy Advisor chooses a mascot, colors, flowers, symbols, themes, motto, and a service project.
- Installations are done on Saturday afternoons, with dinner or snacks following. Several years ago, it was Installation, Dinner and a get-together and/or sleepover at the new Worthy Advisor's house, Demolay and Job's welcome.
- For Installation, carry-ins, if any, are chosen by the Worthy Advisor. The carry-ins are for the girls to keep, and sometimes used in ceremonies like the ones we use to do for O.E.S (Bible Ceremonies). The colors are chosen by the Worthy Advisor. There isn't a certain dress or color requested of the girls out of courtesy due to money, but the girls always try to wear the color of the Worthy Advisor for Installation. We sometimes share dresses.
- Installations, ten years ago. The DeMolay did the flag ceremony and the Jobs did the Bible ceremony. Some girls asked their priest or pastor to do the dedication, or a Mason of high honors to do something special if they knew they would be present. If the Supreme Deputy was present, the Worthy Advisor-elect would have the privilege to be crowned by her.
- Passed-down items. The crown and Worthy Advisor Pin are the only things passed down. The Worthy Advisor-elect is presented with the W.A. pin by the out-going W.A., and crowned by her unless someone else was asked to do it (Supreme Deputy, mom, dad, etc).
- St. Charles had Rainbow Dads, Grandpas, Grandmas. St. Charles didn't have a Beau for a long time. They were reinstated in 1987. Beaux were chosen by the girls in a contest at the meeting of the newly appointed W.A. every year.
- Service awards are given out at Installation for outstanding service. Attendence awards and Grand Crosses are also awarded at Installations. There was another award, named for a deceased Mason, given to a Board member, for dedication of service to the Assembly or doing something VERY special.
- At Farewell, the out-going WA receives her P.W.A. pin and signs the bible on the altar. The girls or Board members sometimes give her something special.
- Opening March. We walked into the room once then formed an O then E then S for O.E.S. Then we formed the Square and Compass. Then an A for Amaranth. After that we formed the Cross then filed into our stations.
- The girls used to serve at the O.E.S. dinners and do their Bible ceremonies for points for their service awards.
- St. Charles was once big enough that they had a girl for every station and every station also had a page.
- St. Charles also has a Pledge group.
Area (District) Level:
Grand (State) Level:
- The current (2001) DeMolay State Sweetheart is a Rainbow Girl -- it's been 30 years since the last Rainbow Girl was State Sweetheart!
- Grand Representatives' duties include keeping in contact with their counterparts - which sometimes is hard if they don't cooperate on the other end. File montly reports with the Grand Deputy in charge of the Grand Reps, Write a report for the Grand Assembly program book, Participate in the Grand Rep Displays sessions, and participate in the Grand Rep costume contests.
- "Due to a difference of opinion between some Missouri Rainbow adults and Supreme Assembly for the planning of Supreme Sessions in St. Louis in 1996, a faction of Rainbow Assemblies split from the Grand Assembly and started their own youth group. Over time, several of the Assemblies have rejoined the Grand Assembly of Missouri."
